How a Graphic Designer does Sugar Cookies!

So, at 8:00pm on Thursday night, my husband (who just made me a gourmet dinner of grilled pork tenderloin, roasted sweet potatoes with homemade dipping sauce and sauteed snap peas..yum!) tells me that he had meant to do something as holiday gifts for his co-workers (he teaches math at Germantown High School) but forgot. He was bummed because we had talked about making homemade jams and preserves to give as gifts this year but ran out of time, so I really wanted to do something to help him out. So, I decided that the only thing I could make from scratch without going to the grocery store is sugar cookies. (who doesn't love christmas sugar cookies?!?) Then, once finished and the house smelling like holiday season, I decided to work on the packaging. Being a graphic designer, I get way more excited about the bags, labels, tags, string, boxes and any other packaging material than what is actually inside the present. So, I had some clear cello bags on hand, and to make them super clean and chic, I folded them over top, then wrapped around a custom label. I am really proud how they turned out! Not bad for a one hour part of my day! Enjoy!

Vintage-Inspired Holiday Tags and Cards

IT'S HOLIDAY TIME! So, this year I worked on my first-ever holiday collection of cards, tags and enclosure cards. I recently posted them for sale on my etsy shop, and I wanted to share them here as well. I love designs that are vintage-inspired but with a modern/clean  twist. The tags are perfect wrapped around the neck of a wine bottle as a hostess gift or just hanging from the middle of a package wrapped in gold or silver paper!

There will be a bridal runway show, luxury wedding vendors, food, wine and music! Buckets and Bins!

So, I am constantly accumulating things: paper, envelopes. samples, ribbon, art supplies, magazines, etc., and I am always trying to figure out "Where on Earth am I going to put all this stuff!!???!!".

Needless to say, I am on an organization mission. I'm attacking my studio one area at a time by cleaning and getting rid of all the junk I tend to accumulate so easily. I am really proud of my new seating area along with clean and organized storage!

Letterpress Gift Tags in a Nest

Ok, so I was shopping with my friend, Louisa, at Market Central in Memphis, and I stumbled across a booth that had some of the cutest paper items! They had letterpress cards, but I fell in love with this box set of gift tags. When I opened the box and saw 6 cute little letterpress tags with striped string to tie them with, I HAD TO HAVE THEM!

Santa Fe Destination Wedding

As an invitation designer, it is a perfect day when you get a client that is hip & artistic, having an amazing destination wedding in Santa Fe while also having flawless taste. So, this post is dedicated to one of the most creative and fun projects I’ve worked on. The photography was done by Phoenix’s Chadwick Fowler, who did such a wonderful job truly capturing the feeling of the day.
We started working together on her save-the-dates and invitation pieces. She knew she wanted a design that was inspired by traditional mexican tile that was still modern at the same time. Keara had pulled images of invitations she liked that were used as the starting point for the designs. In the invitation suite we included a hotel information card, RSVP card with turquoise envelope and a local flavor card that highlighted the couples favorite restaurants, shopping and sightseeing adventures!
Other special touches included a “Here Comes the Bride” banner held by one of the ring bearers, matching turquoise programs and red and white striped ribbon wands that were passed out by the flower girls, and a custom made heart outline on wood panel for the couple to paint during the wedding ceremony. After returning from their honeymoon, the couple gave the painting to me to embellish and touch up so that they can hang it above their bed.
At the reception, there were, of course, handmade details everywhere. From table numbers, to escort cards that hung on a custom made chicken wire frame, to Mexican wedding cookie favors tied with turquoise ribbon, everything created a cohesive design that made this wedding truly special.
